Fixation of Posterior Malleolar Fractures with Posterior Plating Through a Posterolateral Approach

Background We aimed to evaluate radiologic and clinical outcomes of ankle fractures involving posterior fragments that were fixed with a plate by the posterolateral approach. Methods Sixty-five patients who followed for at least 12 months older than 18 years included. The malleolus classified according Haraguchi classification system computed tomography (CT). through Intra-articular step-off, reduction malleolar fragment, fibular position in incisura evaluated early postoperative CT. American Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) score visual analog scale pain used assessment. Results as type 1 45 (69.2%), 2 (18.5%), 3 eight (12.3%). No showed signs instability or loss on direct radiographs during follow-up. Postoperative CT no tibiofibular alignment. On evaluation, there was intra-articular step-off (<1) any patients. mean AOFAS calculated be 91.6. 1.2. Conclusions conclude fixation approach can good option fragments.
